Abstract: Papua New Guinea is not exactly a popular tourist destination. This may be due to the lingering image of savages having a friend or stranger for lunch every now and then. The lecture aims to present life in a Papuan village without the trappings of traditional travel rhetoric, to reveal the principles of field research using the example of one of the current Czech researches and to offer a comparison of the village with our village.
